More than a few folks traveling the newly constructed section of boardwalk between Sixth and Seventh streets have asked if there are any further plans for a wide section of decking just north of Gillian's Wonderland Pier.
Matt von der Hayden, manager of capital planning, said last week that the answer is no. This phase of the reconstruction project is complete.
The new design fills the space between what used to be two separate ramps leading up to the boardwalk at Sixth Street.
Original plans for the project included realigning an existing rest room facility to face the boardwalk. But that portion of the reconstruction project was abandoned before work started.
The work eliminated the north ramp but preserved a handicapped access ramp leading to the parking lot between Fifth and Sixth streets.
