Staff sets up for an Ocean City High School Class of 2015 graduation rehearsal on Thursday. A track resurfacing project is not finished, but a layer of blacktop is down. Sod is expected to arrive before the ceremony on Friday, June 19.
With a decent weather forecast and a resurfaced track in place, the Ocean City High School Class of 2015 commencement ceremony is on schedule for 4 p.m. Friday (June 19) at Carey Stadium.
An ongoing track resurfacing project provided a potential obstacle to the graduation, but a layer of blacktop now covers what was dirt earlier in the week. Crews are expected to sod a bare strip on the field on Thursday night or Friday morning.
"Our intention is to be outside," Schools Superintendent Kathleen Taylor said on Thursday.
The National Weather Service forecast as of Thursday afternoon calls for a small chance of rain early on Friday but otherwise a partly sunny day with a high of 86 degrees.
The ceremony would not be rescheduled but could potentially be moved inside with limited tickets available.
