Thirty-one years ago, July 18, 1984, the results of the first-ever county lifeguard tournament were reported in USA Today under this headline: “The Ocean City Beach Patrol won the Cape May County Lifeguard Championship in Wildwood Crest.”
Last summer, the OCBP doubles crew — Matt Garbutt and Dylan Kosten (photo courtesy of David Nahan) — won the rowing race and the OCBP won the team title. Others scoring points for the OCBP were: Brian Pasternak, Mike Kell, Joe Abbate, Bryan Theiss, Ian Kosten and Ray Conover.

Friday, July 10, 2015 at 6:30 p.m., on the Rambler Road beach in Wildwood Crest.
