The Exchange Club of Ocean City will host its 29
th annual Fishing Tournament on Saturday, July 18.
The boat registration fee is $175 to compete for big cash prizes. The top prize for the heaviest Flounder is $1,000., and the top prize for the heaviest bluefish is $1,000.
Fishing is 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There is a more important reason to register. The proceeds from 29
th Exchange Club of Ocean City Annual Fishing Tournament will benefit the “Success by Six” program, which prepares Ocean City children in need to enter kindergarten ready to learn, and Family Promise of Cape May County, which assists children and families in times of need or crisis.
The Exchange Club Mission Statement is “Exchange, America’s Premier Service Club working to make our communities better places to live.” In the last year, the Exchange Club of Ocean City has donated more than $80,000 in support of children, community and country. The Club donated $5,000 from the proceeds of last year’s fishing tournament to the Tab Son Club after-school program that is sponsored by the Ocean City Tabernacle.
The Exchange Club of Ocean City plays a significant role in the Miss Ocean City Pageant, the Spring and Fall Ocean City block parties, the local visit in Marmora by the Cole Brothers Circus, the Ocean City Halloween parade, the Roger LaRosa Golf Classic, the Book of Golden Deeds. The Exchange Club of Ocean City has also installed in various public buildings Freedom Shrines, which are a collection of framed historical American documents to memorialize our nation’s greatest achievements.
