Ocean City, NJ has a full schedule of events for Independence Day on Saturday, July 4, including fireworks, bike parades and a kite festival.
FIREWORKS
Fireworks on the Fourth of July in Ocean City, NJ are fired from a barge anchored off the Ocean City Music Pier near Ninth Street. They go off at 10 p.m July 4, 2015.
A 10 p.m. musical fireworks display will be fired from a barge at sea off the Ocean City Music Pier (between Eighth and Ninth streets). The show will be visible from the downtown blocks of the beach and boardwalk. The popular band Tidal Wave will entertain in front of the Music Pier for an hour before the fireworks and for an hour afterward.
WEATHER
As of Friday, the National Weather Service forecast suggests the region could see scattered showers and thunderstorms through most of the day. But the NWS predicts all storms will have passed by 8 p.m. The weather should be dry for the 10 p.m. fireworks.
KITE FESTIVAL, YO-YOs and HULA HOOPS
A Kite Festival competition on the beach near the Ocean City Music Pier will be sponsored by Air Circus with registration at 6 p.m. Entry is free. Kite awards in various categories will be presented at 7:30 p.m. At 8 p.m., there will be a yo-yo demonstration and contest followed by a hula hoop competition at 8:30 p.m.All events are free and held between the Music Pier and 10th Street on the beach.
BIKE PARADES
South Ocean City Improvement Association: Registration takes place in the parking lot of Our Lady of Good Counsel (40th Street and Asbury Avenue) at 9 a.m. Registration is free to all, and prizes will be given to the top three in the following categories: 3-and-under, 4-to-7, 8-and-over, families and groups (over 25 or more). Parade participants typically include Miss Night in Venice contestants, Miss Ocean City, Little Miss Ocean City and Ocean City firefighters.
The parade route starts at 40th Street and Central Avenue and proceeds down Central Avenue to 53rd Street. From there, the route turns down 53rd Street to finish at the playground at Haven Avenue, where free refreshments will be available, prizes given out and patriotic music played.
The event has been held since 1954, and includes as many as 800 participants.
Gardens Civic Association: The Gardens Civic Association’s Bike Parade also starts at 10 a.m. with registration 9 a.m. at the Longport Bridge parking lot. Entry is free. The parade winds its way to E. Atlantic Boulevard along the north-end beaches and finishes with refreshments near the intersection of Beach Road.
STAR SPANGLED SALUTE: A musical tribute featuring the Ocean City Theatre Co. Spotlight Performers and Show Choir, noon at Mark Soifer Park, corner of 9

OTHER SPECIAL EVENTS
July 1: The Ocean City Pops Orchestra will present an inspiring program featuring favorite Sousa marches and patriotic selections honoring our country. Todd Thomas and the Pops Singers will honor the brave men and women dedicated to preserving our freedom at this special concert, 8 p.m. at Music Pier. Julia Wilson, an intermediate school student, will sing the "Star Spangled Banner" and will appear with Ocean City Boy Scout Troop No. 32, which will present the colors. July 2 and 3: A film tribute to Jerry Lewis will be held on the 50th anniversary of the comedy "Family Jewels." The event will be held at the Moorlyn Family Theatre.
