The region's
first measurable snow on Tuesday and sub-zero wind-chills did not slow the pace of a boardwalk reconstruction project.

OCNJ Daily
reported Sunday that work on the boardwalk reconstruction project between Sixth and Seventh streets was making good progress and that most of the substructure was complete.
But by Friday, all of the decking along the same stretch was in place. The boardwalk surface was pre-constructed off-site and made for quick work this week.

Runners, walkers and cyclists have been detoured around the one-block construction area since October and are anxious for the return of an uninterrupted round trip on the Boardwalk. The anticipated completion date for the project was by the end of March. But it appears work is well ahead of schedule.
A small section near the Sixth Street ramp is all that remains to be completed, in addition to finish work in closing small gaps and installation of railings and lampposts.
