Board of Education President Joe Clark was returned to his seat in an 8-1 vote on Wednesday (Jan. 7).
Members of the Ocean City Board of Education voted Wednesday to have Joe Clark serve another year as president.
Clark was the only board member nominated for the one-year post and he was approved in an 8-1 vote at the board's annual reorganization meeting.
The board also returned Tom Oves as vice president in another 8-1 vote. School board member Ray Clark dissented in both roll calls.
Cecelia Gallelli-Keyes and Michael James were elected to office in November and sworn in to office on Wednesday at the board's reorganization meeting.
Joe Clark was elected in November to his third term on the board, and he has led the board's negotiations subcommittee and served on the finance and buildings and grounds subcommittees.
Clark and Oves were elected to their posts last January.

In other business:
- Upper Township representative William Holmes requested a formal discussion of the "School Choice" issue be scheduled. Ocean City and Upper Township are both choice districts that allow students from other districts to attend their schools (with the state picking up the tab for tuition). But Ocean City has said it will not automatically accept Upper Township Intermediate School's "School Choice" students into Ocean City High School. Because of the popularity (and cost) of the program, districts are worried about the state's ability to sustain it.
- The board approved the appointment of Donald Toal as advisor for Ocean City High School's spring play with a stipend of $3,480.
- Superintendent Kathleen Taylor told the board that the launch of the SpaceX rocket scheduled to transport an OCHS science experiment into space has now been postponed again from Friday to Saturday.
- After a shout-out from board member Jim Bauer, Director of Special Services Matt Carey said the school store (staffed by students in the life skills program) has sold $2,000 worth of gear bearing the school's new logo — including $1,000 in a single day before Christmas.
- The board approved a 2015-16 program of studies for the high school that includes several new programs.
