to vets at the Vineland Veterans Home during a Fruit and Bingo event. Nineteen members of the Ocean City American Legion Post 524 Auxiliary brought seasonal delight to residents of the Vineland Veterans Home last week with an event called Fruit and Bingo. The veterans were served from a long buffet table of fresh fruit, as they played bingo games with prizes totaling $300. The afternoon of fun and games was organized by Auxiliary member Joanne Marzulli, and is another activity designed for local veterans and their spouses sponsored by the local American Legion family. “Our motto is: We answer the call of Service not Self,” said Auxiliary member Donna Buker. “It is our mission to serve and give back to America’s finest – our servicemen and women.” The Auxiliary is one of three branches of the American Legion, with membership open to family members of living or deceased veterans who were honorably discharged or still serving honorably. Meetings are held every second Wednesday at 7 p.m. at American Legion Post 524, 3304 Bay Avenue in Ocean City. Additional membership information can be requested from Karen Laughlin at (609) 412-6838 or by emailing [email protected]. — News release from Doug Otto for the American Legion Post 524
