Ocean City will host its annual Pamper Scamper at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning (August 11) on the beach at Sixth Street.
UPDATE: Due to rain, the Pamper Scamper has been postponed until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning (August 12) at Sixth Street Beach.
For about four decades, the good-natured competition has challenged parents to leave their infant children in the center of a parachute spread out on the beach … and has challenged the infants to crawl back to the perimeter of the parachute and the welcoming arms of their parents.
The event includes about heats of infants divided into three age categories: 9 months and younger, 9 months to 12 months, and 12 months to 15 months.
The event is free to watch or to enter.

Ocean City’s 106th annual Baby Parade, which takes place 5:30 p..m. Thursday (Aug. 13) on the Boardwalk between Sixth and 12th streets.

Weird Contest Week — French Fry Sculpting: This category has featured such entries as Elvis, a bouquet of flowers, and a map of the State of New Jersey. The fries are donated by the Promenade Food Court. Free to enter or watch. 11 a.m. on the Ocean City Music Pier.
Mummers Night (7 p.m. to 9 p.m.): On the Ocean City Boardwalk (6th to 14th streets), sponsored by Shrivers, Surf Mall, Shirt Shack and Ocean Paradise.

Baby Parade: The 106
th edition is set for Thursday, starting 5:30 p.m. The route is 6
th to 12
th St. on the Boardwalk. It is the longest continuously running Baby Parade in the world. Entries are being taken the day of the Parade from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Sports and Civic Center, 6
th and Boardwalk. The Parade is open to children from infants to ten years of age. You will see colorful entries in Kiddie Cars, Coaches, Strollers, Express wagons and floats. Registration is $5 per child. Prizes are awarded and all entrants receive a memento for participating in the parade. There will be music by the Pitman Hobo Band, Atlantic City Fire Department Bagpipers, Ed Coles Dixieland Band and Michael Hartman’s Greater Ocean City Theatre Company. Weird Contest Week — Little Miss and Mister Chaos and Talent Show: Sculpting is abandoned for creative performance. Little Miss and Little Mister Chaos requires children from three to five years of age to make as much noise as possible pounding on pots and pans. They are accompanied by the music of Dire Straits. The Contest concludes on Friday with the Miss and Mr. Miscellaneous talent pageants.
