Ocean City's distinctive Miss Crustacean Pageant crowned its first three-time winner on Wednesday.
Julie Marzano and her five-year-old daughter, Nadia, and Emily McCarthy and her four-year-old daughter Maura created the winning entry for the third consecutive year in a pageant that calls for hermit crabs to be displayed in elaborate dioramas.
The "The Wicked Pinch of the West," in which hermit crabs starred in a "Wizard of Oz" scene, won top prize in the pageant.
The same families won honors last year with Pinchess Leia and a ‘Crab Wars’ theme.
The "Wicked Pinch" was awarded the coveted Cucumber Rind Cup as Shelly the Mermaid serenaded the contestants with a signature song for the occasion.
"Ocean City is the only place in the world where you'll see a crustacean beauty pageant," Public Relations Director Mark Soifer told the small boardwalk crowd gathered to watch the event.

Grace, Gretchen, James and Lauren Hoffman, currently living in Dubai, took second place with "Crabby Wonka."
Jayson Kreckel, 5, and Madison Kreckel, 9, of Berlin, NJ, took third place with "Pirates of the Crabibbean."
