Ocean City Escapes Major Flooding From Coastal Storm

But the precipitation lightened significantly by the time a 9:30 a.m. high tide hit, and the island avoided major flooding. Northeast winds gusting beyond 35 mph churned up the ocean, but beaches — even at the south end — saw no significant erosion. The storm arrived late Wednesday night and was fading by midday Thursday. The forecast calls for a return of the sun for Friday, and a warm and sunny weekend with highs in the upper 70s.
