The annual Spooks N Kooks Costume Surf Contest is on for Saturday morning (Oct. 11) at First Street Beach in Ocean City, NJ.

Spooks N Kooks Costume Surf Contest is open to all and takes place Saturday morning (Oct. 11) at First Street Beach.
Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. on the beach at First Street. More information and online registration is available on the

Entry fee is five canned goods or a clothing donation. The event benefits local nonprofit organizations providing food and clothing. It is run in association with
Surfrider Foundation, South Jersey Chapter and hosted by NPN — No Passports Needed.
The contest goes on rain or shine, and the early surf forecasts for the weekend show no major swell. The bathrooms on the boardwalk at First Street will be open for changing needs..
Trophies will be awarded for: Best Costume, Most Charitable, Winners of Divisions and Best Overall (the Top Spooky Kook).Divisions include: Open Shortboard, Open Longboard, Women's, SUP and Junior (13-and-under)
The costume counts as the first wave of the best three waves. Rides are judged on character on wave, execution and costume usage. Judges will be looking for surprises.
An after-party will be held at Clancy's by the Bay in Somers Point at 8 p.m. with DJ Nick Teti and drink specials all night.
