All Invited to Ocean City Fire Department Open House on Thursday

  • Things To Do
Ocean City Fire Department photo The Ocean City Fire Department’s Open House is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at the department headquarters at 550 Asbury Avenue. The annual event coincides with national Fire Prevention Month and gives the community a chance to learn more about how the department works. Many of the activities at the Open House are geared toward teaching children how to act and react in a fire situation. From learning to “stop, drop and roll” to using a fire extinguisher to douse flames, Ocean City youth got a chance to learn by doing. The event will include a live fire demonstration.  Firefighters will be selling pink T-shirts to support breast cancer research. Free food and drink will be available. Off-duty firefighters from Ocean City Firefighters FMBA Local 27 volunteer their time to help produce the event. The event includes a coloring contest for kids, and the picture is attached below as a PDF. Kids can color “Sparky” and bring their pictures to the Open House to enter the contest.
