Downtown Asbury Avenue will be the site of the annual Old Fashioned Christmas celebration on Friday, Nov. 28.
Christmas in the Downtown, also known as “Our Miracle on Asbury Avenue,” and an “Old Fashioned Family Christmas” is from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, along the award-winning Asbury Ave. shopping district.
The event features the arrival of Santa Claus from the City Hall Roof at 5 p.m., a special appearance by the Phillie Phanatic from 4 to 6 p.m. in the staging area in front of City Hall, 9
th and Asbury Ave., plus caroling and entertainment.
Santa will greet his fans and pose for photos at the Gazebo across from City Hall from 2 to 4 p.m., descend from City Hall Roof at 5 p.m., then return to the Gazebo from 5:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.
Michael Hartman of The Greater Ocean City Theatre Company will emcee and lead his performers and the audience in the singing of Christmas Carols from 4 to 5 p.m. in front of City Hall prior to Santa’s descent.
The program includes the Show Stoppers Carolers and String Band strolling from 6
th to 9
th St. from 2 to 4 p.m.; Nancy Fox, with her carolers and performers, strolling from 8
th to 11
th Sts. from 2 to 4 p.m.; Music by Keith Hickman at City Hall Steps, 9
th and Asbury Ave., from 1:30 to 4 p.m.; Stilt Walker Dean Duncan entertaining from 6
th to 11
th Sts. on Asbury Ave. plus free Horse and Carriage Rides from 1p.m. to 4 p.m.
Asbury Avenue is colorfully decorated for the Holidays as are many of the City’s 100 specialty shops and restaurants. The special holiday celebration is sponsored by the Greater Ocean City Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Merchants Assn. of Ocean City.
