A proposed site for a new skateboard park in Ocean City is bounded by the Fire Department, Primary School and Tabernacle.
Councilman Mike DeVlieger asked Thursday that a council workshop scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, April 3 be dedicated to a public forum on a proposed skateboard park site.
The tentative meeting at the Ocean City Free Public Library would seek feedback on creating a park on a portion of the parking lot adjacent to the Ocean City Fire Department on the 500 block of Asbury Avenue.
DeVlieger said that he and Business Administrator Mike Dattilo met with county officials earlier Thursday to talk about applying for a state Green Acres grant to help fund part of any potential project. He said the county believes it would be beneficial to have a specific location in any grant application.
Proponents of the park spoke during public comment at Thursday's City Council meeting. But DeVlieger said he hoped that attendees at next week's workshop would represent all perspectives.
"All are welcome," DeVlieger said. "I don't want a biased point of view."
