The Ocean City School District announced early Monday that all schools will be closed today due to the weather.
A mid-March storm had dumped more than four inches of snow by pre-dawn, and the accumulation was continuing.
March 17 had originally been scheduled as a teacher in-service day and a day off for students. But the district rescheduled the school day to make up for one of the four other snow cancellations so far this year. Now more snow has canceled the day intended to make up for snow days.
The last day of school and graduation already have been pushed back from June 17 to June 19.
The latest National Weather Service snow forecast map calls for 6 to 8 inches of snow for Ocean City in a storm expected to end about noon Monday.
By 11 p.m. Sunday, about two inches of snow had accumulated on the ground, but roads and sidewalks remained clear and wet.
Ocean City police remind residents that all parked cars must be removed from the length of West Avenue (a snow emergency route) if the road is covered by snow. Violators will be ticketed.
Northeast winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts as strong as 40 mph are in the forecast.
