Ocean City High School, which has won 23 of the past 25 National Scholastic Surfing Association Northeast Championship titles, will graduate another group of talented seniors in June.
Everybody is invited to a fundraiser for those seniors 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at the Ocean City Yacht Club. The event includes food and dancing.
All money raised after expenses will go toward scholarships for senior surf team members who are bound for college or the military.
__________
Tickets ($40 or $20 for all under age 12) are available at Ocean City surf shops.
__________
Ocean City residents Wayne Blizzard and Mike Lukens helped start the scholarship fundraiser a couple years ago as a way to recognize athletes in one of Ocean City High School's most successful programs. Several have moved on to excel in higher ranks of competitive surfing. Lukens is shaping a wooden board for the event.
The event was held last year at Greate Bay Country Club in Somers Point but moves back to the island to the renovated Yacht Club, which had been damaged by Superstorm Sandy.
The SSPs will provide live music. Food will include a buffet.
