The Ocean City Free Public Library will hold two free events on Saturday, March 8: a TED Talk Video and Discussion Series, 11 a.m. till noon and a free Saturday Afternoon Movie, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,"(2013 rated PG-13) 2 to 4 p.m.
Both events will be held in the main lecture hall in the library at 1735 Simpson Avenue.
The TED talk includes Dr. Peter Attia, co-founder and president of Nutrition Science Initiative, discussing “Is the 'obesity crisis' just a disguise for a deeper problem?” Attia will talk about science not knowing enough about weight gain, and that clinicians — and society -- should stop blaming the victims. Join us as Peter discusses the question, “What if obesity has nothing to do with eating too much?”
TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design, and the TED talks feature experts in a variety of fields who present unique ways of looking at their respective fields of expertise.
A discussion will take place after the lecture.
The 2 p.m. "Hunger Games" movie is adapted from the book series of the same name. Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark become targets of the Capitol after their victory in the 74th Hunger Games sparks a rebellion in the Districts of Panem in this sequel.
The movie stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson and Elizabeth Banks.
