Can You Speak Baseball? Best-Selling Author Visits Library on Thursday

  • Things To Do
Have you always wanted to learn a new language? Bring the whole family to hear New York Times best-selling author Sally Cook 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 5, at the Ocean City Free Public Library (1735 Simpson Avenue).  Cook will explain the inside language of America’s oldest team sport, baseball. She will conduct a baseball quiz with fun prizes based on her popular new book How to Speak Baseball: An Illustrated Guide to Ballpark Banter. This stylishly designed little book captures the vibrant, frequently fanciful vocabulary that describes the world of baseball. It’s the perfect book for ages 6 to 96. Always wanted to know how a book is made? Sally will then present a short slide show of how the same team that made How to Speak Baseball
created their gorgeously illustrated book, Hey Batta Batta Swing! The Wild Old Days of Baseball, a zany history of America’s favorite pastime. Sally will be available for questions and book signings. Visit Cook's webpage to learn more. — News release from Don Smedley
