Bidders line a barricade to get a look at an unclaimed bicycle up for auction Monday in Ocean City, NJ.
The City of Ocean City raised $2,469 on Monday morning at its annual Bicycle Auction — selling 77 bikes at an average price of $32.
The auction included 101 registered bidders and 79 bikes offered for sale, according to Ocean City Purchasing Manager Joe Clark, who served as auctioneer.
The event lets anybody bid on used bicycles that have been deemed by the Ocean City Police Department to be abandoned or unclaimed. It provides a great opportunity to purchase bikes at low cost.
The auction is held annually in July at the Shelter Road Recycling Center at 1 Shelter Road.
