Mayor Jay Gillian: Still Time to Join Night in Venice

  • Things To Do
The Ocean City Night in Venice boat parade is scheduled for July 26, 2014. The following is Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian’s
weekly update to citizens posted on Friday, July 11.
Dear Friends, Ocean City’s annual Night in Venice boat parade will be Saturday, July 26, with the parade beginning at 7:30.  Registration is still open for boats to participate in the parade and for decorated houses and condominiums.  The optional theme for this year’s event is “Night at the Oscars.” This year we will be honoring NBC-TV 40 and the organization’s personalities as the Grand Marshalls.  NBC 40 provides the area excellent local news and weather coverage, and we are excited to have them as part of the event. The boat route is from the Longport Bridge, along the bay front, through the lagoons and ending at Tennessee Avenue.  Grandstands will be set up at most street ends from Battersea Road to 16th Street, and free parking and shuttle service will be available beginning at 5:00 PM. I’d like to thank the many City team members and volunteers that work hard to make this event possible. If you have never participated in the event, this is a great year to become part of the tradition.  The registration process is simple.  Please visit the City website at www.ocnj.us/niv for information and the registration forms or call one of our team members for more information. Warm regards, Jay A. Gillian Mayor
