A coastal storm that had been predicted a few days earlier to just “graze” Ocean City dumped more than six inches of snow on the island Tuesday night.
The Ocean City School District cancelled Wednesday classes and after-school activities. It’s the third “snow day” of the month for students — time that likely will have to be made up through an extended school year in June.
A Board of Education Finance Committee meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and a regular Board of Education meeting at 7 p.m. will go on as scheduled — though planned student recognitions will be postponed.
The Ocean City Aquatics and Fitness Center and the Ocean City Free Public Library will be open on a regular schedule.
The storm left more than seven inches of snow at Atlantic City International Airport and 5.8 inches in Cape May, but areas farther inland saw much less accumulation.
The sun returned on Wednesday, and high temperatures on Thursday are expected to climb to 31 degrees. By Friday, the high will be 43 degrees.
