As if we didn't already know that it's been a long and cold winter, Punxsutawney's famous groundhog saw his shadow on Sunday and predicted six more weeks of it.
Ocean City faces a small chance of snow on three different days this week — Monday, Wednesday and Saturday — just as we close the books on a snowy and bitterly cold January.
But true to form, forecasters are predicting more rain than fluff along the coast for each of the storms.
Rain is expected to arrive on Sunday night (Feb. 2) and get heavier through Monday morning as temperatures begin to fall. NBC40 meteorologist Dan Skeldon predicts "all or mostly rain" for Cape May County — with the possibility of a small amount of heavy, wet snow toward the end of the storm on Monday afternoon.
He predicts areas north of the New Jersey Turnpike could see as much as 4 to 8 inches.
After a sunny Tuesday, heavy rain is expected to return for Tuesday night and Wednesday (and with a predicted low of 36 degrees, not much chance of snow).
The next chance of rain or snow comes on Saturday.
The ocean water temperature was just 33.3 degrees on Sunday at the Steel Pier in Atlantic City.
