  • Miss Ocean City Pageant: The pageant takes place at the Ocean City Music Pier, sponsored by the Ocean City Exchange Club, 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 and available at the Music Pier Box Office. For information: www.ocexchangeclub.org.
  • 39th Annual Boys and Girls Surf Fishing Tournament: 9 a.m.-Noon at north end beach adjacent to the Ocean City-Longport Bridge. Registration 9 a.m.-10 a.m. at the Longport Bridge Parking Lot. Fishing from 10 a.m.-noon. Parental supervision required. Must bring your own bait. Awards presented in various age groups 8 to 16 years. Casting and fishing instruction will be provided.   • The Pamper Scamper: This cute and sometimes exciting Baby Crawling Race for ages up to 15 months is set for August 12th at the Sixth Street Beach. Registration is at 9 a.m., with race beginning at 9:30 a.m. for more information, call (609) 525-9300. Note: Babies who stand up and walk are applauded then disqualified.

  • Inn to Inn Tours (2 p.m. to 4 p.m) Commencing at 7th Street and Central Avenue, an old-fashioned trolley winds its way through center city neighborhoods for an intimate visit to four or five bed and breakfasts. Afternoon refreshments are offered at the conclusion of the tours.
  • “Hands on History” at the Ocean City Historical Museum: Free program for children at 1 p.m. every Thursday includes hands-on activities related to various topics on Ocean City history. See more
THURSDAY, AUG. 14
  • Baby Parade: Ocean City’s 105th Annual Baby parade is set for Thurs., August 14 starting 5 p.m. Parade route is 6th to 12th Street on the Boardwalk. It is the oldest continuously run event of its kind in the country. Past grand marshals include baseball immortal Joe DiMaggio. Princess Grace Kelly also appeared in the parade and was known to enjoy the event. The Parade is open to children from infants to 10 years of age. Contestants can register at the Music Pier Information Center at Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. FRIDAY, AUGUST 15

Age-group prizes are awarded. On Friday there are two contests: Little Miss and Little Mister Chaos. Children 3-5 make as much noise as they can by banging on pots and pans for three minutes. Mister and Miss Miscellaneous is for folks who have always wanted to be in a talent contest but were deterred by conditions beyond their control.
  • The Little Miss Ocean City Pageant: 7 p.m. at the Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace. Tickets are $10 at the Music Pier Box Office. This is a scholarship program for girls ages 8-11. For information, call (609) 525-9304.
SATURDAY, AUGUST 16
  • Organ Donation Program: A program promoting Organ Donation is set from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Macedonia United Methodist Church, 941 Simpson Ave. Learn facts and ask questions about donation of hearts, lung, eyes, etc. A continental breakfast will be served from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. for information, call Joe Pratt (609) 457-3364.
