The Ocean City Board of Education will hold a special meeting 6 p.m. Wednesday (April 23) in the Community Room at Ocean City High School (entrance off the beach block of Sixth Street).
School Business Administrator Pat Yacovelli said "the
special meeting is a procedural item that stems from the review of Ocean City BOE's school budget." It includes no change to the figures already considered by the board.
"The original preliminary budget adopted at the February meeting was prior to the release of state aid figures," Yacovelli said. "The County has directed that the amount per the resolution must agree to the DOE software, thus necessitating the need for tomorrow night's meeting."
The one-item meeting is expected to be brief.
The Board of Education holds a public hearing and final vote on the proposed budget at a full meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. April 30.
The Ocean City Board of Education on Wednesday introduced a 2014-15 school budget that calls for a 1.5 percent increase to local taxpayers. The owner of a $500,000 home (whose property was not reassessed) will pay an extra $14.51 in school taxes this year under the current proposed budget.
