Easter fashion is a long tradition on the Atlantic City and Ocean City boardwalks, but man's best friends get to join the fun in Ocean City.
The Woofin' Paws Pet Fashion Show on Saturday (April 19) in Ocean City, NJ, included about 60 contestants.
The Woofin' Paws Pet Fashion Show took place Saturday at Carey Stadium in Ocean City — a day before the Easter Fashion Promenade (
1 p.m. Sunday at the Ocean City Music Pier).
About 60 pets dressed in their finest bonnets, bathing suits, superhero costumes and other garb to compete for top honors in several categories.
The competition also included "Intelligent Pet Tricks" and "Owner-Pet Look-Alike" categories.
A couple hundred spectators cheered on the mostly canine competitors and took advantage of sun and mild spring weather.
The contest benefits the Ocean City Humane Society, a no-kill shelter, with owners paying a $5 entry fee.
The Dean Schofield Woofin' Paws Plaque for Perfection went to "Best of Show" winner Chloe, owned by Bruce Miller of Millersburg, Pa. Chloe and her family dressed in patriotic red, white and blue. Other winners included:
- Swimsuit: Franny, Doffield Family, Yardley, Pa.
- Superhero: Shane, Heather Gallo, West Chester, Pa.
- Pet-Owner Look-Alike: Chloe, Bruce Miller, Millersburg, Pa.
- Intelligent Pet Trick: Shelby, Diana Peterson, Atlantic City, N.J.
- Bonnet: Winston, John Holzermer, Galloway Township, N.J.; and Mercy, Nancy Giannini, Galloway Township, N.J.
- Best-Dressed Miscellaneous: Señor Poncho (chinchilla), Sally Dahl, Somers Point, N.J.
- Best-Dressed: Grace and Ginger, Ryan Noseworthy, Pipersville, Pa.
