The Old Salt gift shop on the Ocean City (NJ) Boardwalk at 13th Street is sponsoring a Peeps Diorama Contest.
A new contest invites kids to play with their food. The Old Salt and Sting Ray gift shops are sponsoring a Peeps Diorama Contest.
The contest invites kids to create scenes starring the bunny-shaped marshmallow treats. The dioramas must be shoebox-sized, and any theme is welcome. Deadline to submit creations is Saturday, April 12.

Age categories will include: pre-school; kindergarten through third grade; and fourth through eighth grades. Prizes will include water park passes for this summer. There is no fee to enter, and all children are welcome to participate.
Old Salt co-owner Holly Buck said there are Peeps diorama contests in other states and
a wealth of Peeps artistic ideas on the product website, but she got her own start in diorama art in a less-mushy motif — with a "Copa Crabana" diorama for the annual Miss Crustacean Pageant in Ocean City.
Buck said the contest is just a way for kids to have fun. Contest entries can be dropped off at Old Salt (on the Ocean City Boardwalk near 13th Street) 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. any day this week or at Sting Ray (854 Asbury Ave.), which is open until 6 p.m.
Judging will be by vote of the public and pictures will be posted on
Old Salt's Facebook page.
