Indian Summer Weekend in Ocean City is filled with events from Friday evening through Monday, and the weather looks as if it will cooperate. After some scattered showers on Friday, the weather should dry out for Saturday and turn sunny and cool for Sunday and Columbus Day on Monday.
Here are some of the highlights for the weekend:
FALL BLOCK PARTY: The city’s popular Fall Block Party is set for Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10. It will extend from Fifth Street to 14th Street on Asbury Avenue and feature over 400 crafters, food vendors, entertainment and public service displays. Saturday evening will feature family entertainment on the Boardwalk followed by a spectacular fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. See more:

JOHN R. ELLIOTT HERO WALK: The annual boardwalk event that was postponed because of the storm is set for Saturday (Oct. 10) starting 11 a.m. on the Ocean City Boardwalk at Sixth Street. The HERO Campaign saves lives by promoting the use of safe and sober designated drivers during events that include alcohol. Help raise funds and awareness so that the HERO Foundation can continue its mission to prevent drunken driving tragedies. Access

SKATEBOARD PARK RIBBON-CUTTING: Mayor Jay A. Gillian has announced that the City will hold a ribbon cutting for the new “Cape May County Skate Park in Ocean City” on Saturday, October 10, noon at the park, located at 5
th and Asbury Avenue. The Mayor will be joined by County Freeholders, City Council members and key community members.
FRIDAY NIGHT CONCERT SERIES: The Ocean City Free Public Library (17
th and Simpson) on Friday (Oct. 9) continues its free series with a Tribute to Sinatra and Burns performed by Frank Hartman and Albert Long. The series also includes: A Tribute to Irving Berlin, Oct. 23; Ella Unplugged, a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald, Oct. 30; The Beatles Revisited, Nov. 6; A Musical Performance by Alan Mann, featuring the music of Cole Porter, Johnny Mercer, the Gershwins and more on Nov. 13; and the Ocean City Pops on Nov. 20. GLOWBALL GOLF: The Ocean City firefighters have rescheduled their inaugural glowball golf benefit to Friday, Oct. 9, with 6:30 p.m. registration, 7 p.m. start at the Ocean City Golf Course, 25

"FOREVER PLAID": The Ocean City Theatre Company presents "Forever Plaid," one of the most popular and successful musicals in recent history. It’s about four young musicians intent on forming a successful band, “Forever Plaid.” On their way to their first gig, they are killed in an accident with a school bus.
