About 3 or 4 inches fell steadily through the morning before the sky cleared and returned to its new normal: windy and cold.

The snow had not started as of 5:30 a.m., and the Ocean City School District held classes on a normal schedule, having already closed the school three times for the weather and extending the school year two days further into June.

The decision pleased many students and school families, and by dismissal time at mid-afternoon, the roads were mostly clear.

But Ocean City won’t feel an above-freezing temperature until Sunday.
