Humans apparently were not the only ones enjoying the beautiful weather in Ocean City on Friday.

A number of people reported seeing whales surfacing near the beach in Ocean City.

Barbie Somers shared the photo above with the note “off 10th Street for three hours, 3 to 5 whales … spectacular show today, stripers jumping and whales feeding.”

“Saw it at 32nd Street around 9:30 a.m.,” Beckie Allegretto wrote.

Steve Sands captured video from the beach at Third Street, and others reported seeing the whales off 14th Street.

“Lots of whales at the bell bouy today,” Ken Ruckle wrote. “Humpbacks.”

Anne Cancelmo said she saw one from the Cape May-Lewes ferry.

Humpbacks are migratory and not uncommon to New Jersey waters, but they are rarely seen from the beach.

If the whales were feeding close to shore, it’s possible the same conditions could exist on Saturday.
