CVS Pharmacy representatives arrived at United Methodist Communities at The Shores in Ocean City on Dec. 30 and administered the first of the two-part Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

CVS will return and administer the second shot on Jan. 20, according to a UMC press release.

Room by room, vaccinations were given to residents and staff at the long-term care facility.

“UMC is pleased that New Jersey has made the right decision and included long-term care residents and staff as a top priority for vaccination in our state,” the release said. “While the vaccine is not a panacea, it is an important step toward making our community healthy and safe. After nine long months, it is a ray of hope for many of our residents.“

Residents completed comment cards, which display their thoughts on a bulletin board. Among these, some read, “Grateful and hopeful,” “Blessed” and “Better days are coming.”
