The National Hurricane Center map shows the positions of Hurricane Fay and Tropical Storm Gonzalo.

After a quiet couple weeks, two tropical storms are spinning over the open water of the Atlantic Ocean.

At the moment, neither is expected to affect Ocean City in any substantial way.

The five-day forecast takes Tropical Storm Gonzalo on a track off the East Coast of the U.S.

As of Sunday evening, Hurricane Fay was about 300 miles northeast of Bermuda and moving away from the United States toward the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

Fay is expected to weaken, but relatively small surf swell (3-foot) could possibly reach Ocean City on Monday, according to some surf forecasts.

Tropical Storm Gonzalo had sustained winds of 45 mph as it headed toward the Caribbean on Sunday evening, but the system is expected to reach hurricane strength by Tuesday morning.

The projected track for Gonzalo takes the storm on a track off the east coast of Florida. The current forecast does not predict the path of the storm from there.
