Preview: Nor’easters host Calgary in PDL Semifinal on Saturday at Tennessee...

The Premier Development League Eastern Conference champion Ocean City Nor’easters will play the Western Conference champion Calgary Foothills FC in the PDL Semifinals on Saturday. The Nor’easters will host the match at the Tennessee Avenue Soccer Complex in Ocean City as the club is hoping the home field advantage can help them advance to the PDL championship game. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.

Detailed audits are required by the state for all municipalities and conducted by outside accounting firms to ensure that sound financial practices are maintained. By a 7-0 vote, City Council introduced a new ordinance that includes nearly $19 million in funding for road construction, drainage improvements and other projects.

City Council is expected Thursday to approve a nearly $19 million bond ordinance to finance a series of major road and drainage projects in two flood-prone neighborhoods of Ocean City. Separately, Council is also scheduled to vote at its 7 p.m. meeting Thursday on a $7 million contract that is a key part of the city's proposed $20 million dredging program for clogged lagoons along the back bays.

The Sixth Annual Broadway Brunch of the Ocean City Theatre Company had more than its share of highlights, but they don’t call their top award “Star of the Show” for no reason. Mark Soifer, a longtime star employee of the city of Ocean City recently announced his retirement, ending a 45-year career shaping the town’s image as America’s Greatest Family Resort.

FCA Branches Out With Skate Camp in Ocean City

Building on a decades-plus tradition of its surf program, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes recently wrapped up its first session of the FCA Skate Camp in Ocean City. The Camp, for skaters of all skill levels ages 8-14 ran from July 18 to 22. A second session will take place beginning Monday July 25 and run through Friday the 29th, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cape May County Skate Park, 5th and Asbury.
