Things were jumping Sunday at St. Charles Place beach in Ocean City.
If you we looking for a lull in the action between Memorial day and the close of area schools, you weren’t finding it on the island in general or at St. Charles Place, where our intrepid photographer was ensconced for much of the day.
Ocean temperatures were in the mid-60s, but that did not deter the many wetsuit-clad surfers or even the “bare back” swimmers taking a dip. Sand castles were built, holes were dug, Frisbees were tossed and the smell of Coppertone filled the air.
Brilliant sunshine and gusty breezes kept the joggers, cyclists and dog-walkers active on the surrounding streets, but that did not seem to affect the large number of beach-goers. Despite slightly cooler than normal air temperature, blankets were close and everyone coexisted well.
We noticed beach taggers checking for badges and selling them. Daily, weekly and seasonal tags seemed to be selling well.
Nearby, City Councilman Keith Hartzell officiated a beach wedding. The newlyweds and their guests were said to have come in from from Middletown, DE.
All in all, it was a great day at the beach at America’s Greatest Family Resort.
