The 29th annual Doo Dah Parade on Saturday (April 12) in Ocean City welcomed a surprise two surprise guests: sun and warmth.
Crowds lined downtown Asbury Avenue and the Ocean City Boardwalk to enjoy the parade and the sunny spring weather. Temperatures in the 60s and a light land breeze made for ideal conditions.
The parade — Ocean City’s tribute to humor — typically marks the opening of an uninterrupted season of specials events that stretches through the new year.
The procession featured marching bands, floats, grand marshal Peter Funt and a brigade of more than 500 basset hounds.
The traditional finale at the end of the parade route at the Ocean City Music Pier includes — the Pie-asco, in which everybody is invited to smoosh their friends with shaving-cream pies.
