The annual Pamper Scamper in Ocean City, NJ, takes place on Tuesday, August 9th on the beach at Sixth Street.

WHAT: Ocean City’s 6th Street Beach will be awash with determined infant athletes and frantic parents during the popular annual Pamper Scamper. Actually some of the infants are not that determined. So parents on the sidelines attempt to urge them on by jingling shiny objects, waving their favorite toys and just plain shouting.

 WHEN: Tuesday, August 9. Registration 9 a.m. Scamper starts 9:30 a.m.

WHERE: Sixth Street Beach in Ocean City, adjacent to the Sports and Civic Center.

WHO MAY COMPETE: Babies up to 15 months race in various age categories. This is strictly a crawling race. Contestants who stand up and walk will be heartily cheered and then disqualified.

WHAT ELSE: You will see some unique crawling techniques. Some babies flip-flop on their bellies, others have been known to crawl backwards (feet first), then there are those who just sit calmly in the ring and leave the exertion to others. Bring your cameras.

This is an Ocean City Recreation Department event. Call (609) 399-6111.  Day of event call (609) 364-4010.
