Ocean City Police Chief Urges “Stay Home”

For those of you that know me, you know I rarely ever post on my personal FB account, due to my position as Chief of Police.

I also have never requested my Public Information Officer post a personal message to my family, friends, residents, and visitors in Ocean City.

Today, I feel compelled to share my personal thoughts on the COVID-19 Virus. I have been in law enforcement for over 25 years, and have been serving as Chief of Police for the past 2 years.

I have never experienced anything of this magnitude. I need everyone to listen to the specifics listed in the most recent New Jersey Governor’s Executive Order and STAY HOME!!!

I can assure you that after working 16-hour days and participating in countless conference calls for the past two weeks that this crisis needs everyone to adhere to the rules of “social distancing” and stay at home unless you are an “Essential employee” or for the basic needs such as food, medical care, the pharmacy, etc.

The flattening of the curve is extremely important as we try to slow the widespread risk of this contagious virus and will require everyone to adhere to a new norm.

I am asking for everyone to heed this mandate to protect our families, friends, and community. Most importantly, to protect our first responders who have to leave their families each day to keep us safe!

Let’s all do our part in limiting our exposure to others. That is the only way we will win this fight.

Lastly, I want to thank all of our “Essential employees,” Police Officers, Fire Fighters, EMS Personnel, Nurses, Doctors, Food providers, and everyone else that will help get us through this most uncertain time.

We will get through this if we ALL work together and follow the same guidelines.

Please follow all Local, NJ State, and Federal directives and always remember to “Be safe, be smart!”
