The following news release is from the Ocean City Historical Museum:

In 2014, the Ocean City Historical Museum celebrates its 50th anniversary.  Over those five decades of change, the volunteers have been our one constant.

The museum will hold a workshop is for both current and potential volunteers.  If you have ever been interested in the helping the museum, May 5 is the day for you.

The volunteer workshop will introduce the museum to anyone who is interested in volunteering.  For our current volunteers, it will be an opportunity to brush up on skills and meet the new volunteers. We will also be discussing a new idea of “volunteering from home.”

There will be various workshops available to choose from including “Brushing up on your history,” “Safety and security,” and “What if tour-guiding isn’t for me?”

The workshop will be free and run from 9:30 a.m. to noon.  Light refreshments will be served.  To reserve your seat, call the museum office at 609-399-1801.

The museum is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. TuesdayWednesdayFriday and Saturday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.  Located in the Ocean City Community Center, the museum exhibits images and artifacts that tell the stories of Ocean City’s founding and evolution.  A research library contains materials for people looking to do history on their own.  A gift shop is also available that carries unique gifts, books and other history items.  In 2014, the museum marks its 50th anniversary of its service to the Ocean City community by inspiring, delighting and educating by sharing the history of Ocean City.
