The long-range forecast calls for low temperatures in the teens and single digits throughout the region on Wednesday night, Jan. 7.

The air temperature is expected to hit a high of 62 degrees in Ocean City on Sunday, and it could fall to as low as 14 degrees by Wednesday night.

The temperature swing is part of a mixed bag in the weather forecast for the first week of 2015.

The National Weather Service calls for steady rain to arrive on Saturday morning and continue through much of the weekend.

A full moon tide falls on Sunday at 7:21 a.m. while rain remains in the forecast. But there are currently no flood advisories in effect. The other high tide on Sunday is at 7:45 p.m.

The sun returns on Monday, but temperatures start to plummet with highs reaching only 39 on Monday, 37 on Tuesday, 32 on Wednesday and 22 on Thursday. There is some chance of snow flurries on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The surf forecast suggests a swell building through Saturday and peaking on Sunday with head-high waves and possible offshore winds improving conditions later in the day. The ocean water temperature is 42 degrees.
