Mayor’s Update on Coastal Storm – Sept. 4, 2016

Dear Friends,

The latest forecast brings some good news to Ocean City. Post-tropical storm Hermine is taking a track farther out into the Atlantic Ocean than originally predicted, and Sunday’s weather is sunny and mild.

But I want to ask everybody to not let their guard down. Ocean City remains under a tropical storm warning, and the threat of street flooding continues through high tide cycles at 11:32 a.m. Monday and 11:40 p.m. Monday. I want to encourage residents and guests to closely monitor weather conditions and be prepared to move vehicles from low-elevation streets that typically experience flooding. Our FAQ includes more detail on safe places to park.

The ocean remains closed to swimming. Rough surf and strong currents from the storm make conditions extremely dangerous. Please do not think of disregarding this temporary ban.

Trash pickup will remain on its regular Monday schedule on Labor Day (Sept. 5).

I’d like to thank all of our residents and guests for continuing to take precautions to keep themselves and their property safe during this storm event. Look for another update tomorrow afternoon with the latest information on Hermine.
