Dear Friends,

I am never more proud of our Ocean City community than when our holiday season approaches. Not only is our town decorated, but more importantly the community comes together more than ever to give thanks, provide for the less fortunate and host special events to entertain the entire family.

The annual Ecumenical Council Thanksgiving service will be held this year at 7:00 PM, Tuesday November 21 at First Presbyterian Church, 701 Wesley Avenue.  I recommend everyone attend this service, it is truly motivational.  Please bring a donation of canned goods to the service to help the less fortunate in our community.

The “Earlier than the Bird” downtown shopping extravaganza will be tomorrow, Saturday November 18.  This unique downtown event invites everyone to shop in their pajamas to take advantage of early bird shopping specials.  The fun begins at 8:00 AM, and this is a great chance to nab hourly discounts and specials along with fun door prizes.  Please remember Saturday November 25 is small business Saturday.  I remind everyone to shop local throughout the year, but make a point to visit our local stores next Saturday.

Next Friday, November 24, take a break from the hustle and bustle of Black Friday and enjoy Christmas in the Downtown, our annual kick off to the holiday season.  The event runs from 2:00 to 5:00 with live entertainment, the annual Christmas tree lighting, and a visit from some very “special guests.” Christmas in the downtown is a great experience and sure to get everyone in the holiday spirit.

Make sure you download the new Ocean City app to keep up to date on all events, including horse and carriage rides, breakfast with Santa and photos with Santa.  There are plenty of more activities in the upcoming weeks, so please come out and enjoy all of them.

I hope everyone has a great weekend,

Warm regards,

Jay A. Gillian
