Ordered and paid for by Committee to Re-elect Jay A. Gillian

Dear Friends:

As we approach the Municipal Election on May 10, I am touching base with you one final time to respectfully ask for your vote to serve another term as mayor of this wonderful community.

I’m proud of all that we have accomplished working in unity during my time as mayor.

I plan to continue to aggressively address our most critical infrastructure needs including continued road and drainage improvements, beach and dune maintenance, dredging of our back bay and lagoon areas, acquisition and protection of parks and open space, recreation improvements and continued boardwalk improvements, including even more public restroom facilities.

Finally, I will continue to fight to preserve the unique character of our community and protect the special quality of life we enjoy here.

We’ve demonstrated that, with proper management, these physical improvements can be achieved and we can still maintain our stable and reasonable tax rate, our record fund balance and our strong bond rating.

You can be assured that I, and my professional management team, will work tirelessly to maintain the city services that keep Ocean City clean and safe with outstanding services and a quality of life that is the envy of the region.

As I traveled throughout town during this campaign, I want to thank those of you who invested the time to meet with me. I have had the absolute privilege of talking with many of you and I truly recognize and share your love for this town. I thank you for listening to the truth of my vision for our town and for not being influenced by the spread of rumors and untruths that is not in any way part of my mission.

It’s disappointing to me, and many of you that I’ve met with, that my opponent didn’t focus on discussion about our visions for the future of this community. My opponent unfortunately chose to rely on spreading untrue accusations and rumors.

Once and for all:

— Neither my business partner nor I have any plans for construction of any high-rise in Ocean City. Such construction is not permitted in any zone. And I oppose changing the character of our community with high-rise development.

— Neither my business partner nor I have any plans for construction of any hotel or condo units at Wonderland. Such construction is not permitted in the boardwalk zone. And I oppose changing the character of our community with hotels or condos on the boardwalk.

— I will never support any changes to the alcohol prohibition in Ocean City.

— There is no secret plan to accept sewage waste from Upper Township at the treatment plant in Ocean City.

I encourage you to ask yourself a couple of questions before casting your vote for mayor.

First, while my opponent has called for change, has he articulated or defined any specific changes he would make? The answer is no.

Secondly, is Ocean City better off now than it was prior to my tenure as mayor? I suggest we clearly are in terms of infrastructure, public facilities, drainage, the condition of our beach, dunes, boardwalk and back bay areas, the downtown, our recreation facilities and our finances. We remain a clean and safe community with services and a quality of life that is the envy of the region.

I respectfully ask for your vote for mayor on May 10 so that I may continue to work with all of you to move Ocean City forward. Please remind your family, friends and neighbors of the importance of voting as well.
