Beach replenishment at the north end of Ocean City in spring 2013.

The following is Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian’s weekly update to citizens posted on Friday, March 20.

Dear Friends:

Earlier this week, Jim Mallon and Mike Dattilo from my office met with representatives of NJDEP and the Army Corps of Engineers in Trenton to review our options for bay and lagoon dredging.  It was a positive meeting and I am convinced that both agencies recognize our problem and want to work with us toward viable solutions to dispose of dredged materials.  A follow-up meeting to discuss more details will be scheduled shortly.

Also this week, Mike Dattilo attended the weekly project meeting for the beach replenishment project in the south end.  The project remains on schedule and we can expect to see equipment begin to arrive in Ocean City shortly.

Tomorrow, Saturday March 21, the Ocean City PTA will host their annual spring carnival.  The event will take place from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Ocean City High School.  The fun includes games, prizes, bounce rides and refreshments.  Please try to attend with your family and help the PTA continue their outstanding work within our school district.

Have a great weekend!

Warm regards,

Jay A. Gillian
Mayor
