A daughter pens a message to mom on the window of the Bangles N Bows shop on the 1300 block of the Ocean City Boardwalk on Mother’s Day.

What started on Sunday with an Ocean City Boardwalk merchant writing a card to her mom on a small shop window turned into sprawling tribute to mothers everywhere.

Caitlin Quirk wrote her note on a window at Bangles N Bows on the boardwalk between 13th and 14th streets, then left a bigger one for other people to finish the sentence, “I love my mom because …”

Quirk said she figured the responses might fill one of the shop’s three big windows, but by the end of Mother’s Day, across all the windows of her shop and those of the neighboring Onni Gift Shop, grateful children had told the world they love their moms because:

  • “She is my best friend.”
  • “She never gives up.”
  • “She has one good smile.”
  • “She is the glue that holds us together.”
  • And, of course, because, “She makes me bacon.”

“Tons of people came out to share why they love their mom on our windows,” Quirk said.
