Ocean City marks Earth Day

Ocean City marks Earth Day on Saturday (April 21) with its semi-annual Beach Sweeps event. Volunteers are encouraged to meet at the Ocean City Music Pier for supplies and assignments in a beach cleanup 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The 32nd annual event is sponsored by Clean Ocean Action and Ocean City. The Ocean City Environmental Commission invites everybody to celebrate a family-friendly Earth Day. The free event is open to the public and will take place 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. April 21 at the Howard S. Stainton Senior Center within the Ocean City Community Center at 18th Street and Simpson Avenue. The morning’s activities will focus on the younger generations. Participants will be invited to make crafts out of recycled products such as plastic bottles, paper towel rolls and cardboard. Music, videos and books will be age-appropriate and focus on “reduce, reuse, and recycling.”
