The Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority is replacing and rehabilitating the force mains that carry wastewater to the treatment plant on the bay at 45th Street. The work will be on 31st Street from Haven Avenue to Bay Avenue and Bay Avenue from 31st Street to Eighth Street.
Work for the week of Nov. 11 to 15:
No work will take place on Monday, Veterans Day.
On or about Tuesday, the contractor will be shutting down Bay Avenue from 34th Street up to 14th Street, while a second work crew will begin mobilizing at the site.
It is expected that the second crew will begin work on or about Nov. 18. As such, work will be done by one crew at about 28th Street going north and the second crew at 14th Street going south.
Traffic:
Over the weekend and into Monday, Bay Avenue will be open to two lanes of traffic, with lane shifts around the terminus of work. Starting Tuesday, Bay Avenue will be closed between 34th and 14th streets. Traffic detours will be established to divert motorists to West Avenue.
