St. Patrick’s Day Celebration Set for Arts Center March 2

The Ocean City Arts Center presents McDermott’s Handy in an early celebration for St. Patrick’s Day and recognizes a member of the duo, Kathy DeAngelo, as a recipient of the inaugural New Jersey Heritage Fellowship award. The event is Saturday, March 2, at 3 p.m. in the Chris Maloney Lecture Hall of the Ocean City Public Library, 1735 Simpson Ave.

Coastal Flood Advisory Extended to Sunday

The National Weather Service has extended a Coastal Flood Advisory for Ocean City, Strathmere and nearby coastal areas through 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11. Minor coastal flooding will continue to occur around the times of the morning high tides through Tuesday. With a strong coastal storm passing by on Tuesday, there is a possibility of localized moderate coastal flood in impacts in some back bays of Cape May County with the Tuesday high tide.

HSOC to Host “Pun Night Out” Comedy Show

The Humane Society of Ocean City will hold its first ever comedy fundraiser, Friday March 1 at Josie Kelly's Public House in Somers Point. The event is from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person.

Ocean City Bus Crash Injures Two Students

A school bus carrying 18 students and a vehicle collided at the intersection of 18th Street and Asbury Avenue in Ocean City on Tuesday, leaving two students with minor injuries, Ocean City Public Information Officer Doug Bergen said Wednesday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory in effect for Ocean City, Strathmere and nearby coastal areas from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday. Strengthening northeast winds and exceptionally high tides approaching a new moon on Friday will combine to cause minor flooding through multiple morning tide cycles this week. The advisory is likely to be further extended.

Ocean City Hosts Winter Warrior Festival and Nature Fun Day

Registration is open for a new Presidents Day Weekend race event that will bring families and local businesses together in Ocean City in the heart of winter. The Winter Warrior Festival will be staged from Ocean City Civic Center on Saturday, Feb. 17, and provide fun and wintry challenges for adults, children and teams representing local businesses and groups. The Ocean City Environmental Commission will sponsor its annual free Nature and the Environment Family Fun Day next door at the Ocean City High School cafeteria on the same morning of Feb. 17. The dual events provide a great way to escape cabin fever in mid-February.

Ocean City American Legion Donates $11,000 to “Tunnels To Towers”

Members of Ocean City American Legion Post 524 traveled to Staten Island, N.Y., to present an $11,000 donation check to the Tunnels To Towers Foundation CEO and Chairman Frank Siller. The funds were raised by veteran members of Post 524, along with Squadron 524 Sons of the American Legion members and delivered in January.

“Code Blue” Issued for Cape May County During Cold Weather

The Cape May County Office of Emergency Management has issued a “Code Blue” advisory for all of Cape May County effective 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. for Friday, Feb. 2 to Sunday, Feb. 4. Code Blue conditions are in effect when the temperature reaches 32 degrees or below.
