"In the best interest of the patrons and residents, we are recommending campground owners and operators hold off opening local campgrounds until May 11, as a way to reduce and discourage the number of visitors to the county during this outbreak,” Thomas said in a press release.

A 32-year-old woman from New York tested positive for COVID-19 in Cape May County, which makes the current total six cases, the county announced Tuesday. Cape May County Confirms Two More COVID-19 Cases

A 71-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man have tested positive for coronavirus in Cape May County, which brings the total number of confirmed cases in the county to five so far, according to a press release Monday. The two new cases indicate that COVID-19 is circulating throughout Cape May County and is a reminder that social distancing and quarantine controls are the best measure in controlling this disease, county officials said. Cape May County Continues Government Services During Pandemic

The Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders has closed county buildings to the public but will continue to provide essential government services to the public during the coronavirus pandemic, according to a press release. Public access to county government buildings has been restricted in most circumstances until further notice. The County Administration Building, the Clerk’s Office, Election Board, Tax Board, Library, and Animal Shelter buildings are closed. The Cape May County Parks and Zoo are closed until further notice. Meetings, events and non-essential services are canceled until further notice. Government business will be conducted during regular hours via telephone, fax, and email. Most of the county employees are working from home, so please allow time for a response.

Gov. Orders Residents to Stay Home, Closes Non-Essential Businesses

To mitigate the impact of coronavirus and protect New Jersey’s health care system for the state’s most vulnerable people, Gov. Phil Murphy signed an executive order Saturday directing all residents to stay at home until further notice. There are certain exceptions, such as obtaining essential goods or services, seeking medical attention, visiting family or close friends, reporting to work or engaging in outdoor activities. The governor is also closing all non-essential retail businesses to the public.
