Ocean City is lashing out at the developer of a proposed offshore wind farm after being hit with a lawsuit in an ongoing dispute over a transmission line needed for the controversial project. The Danish energy company Orsted, which plans to build the Ocean Wind project, filed a lawsuit in state Superior Court on May 4 demanding that Ocean City should grant the permits needed for the underground transmission line.

From javelin throws to sprints to distance running, 98 Special Olympics athletes from Atlantic, Cape May and Cumberland counties competed in track and field Sunday at Carey Stadium in Ocean City. Ocean City hosts the athletes each year. The meet helps them qualify for the Special Olympics New Jersey State Summer Games that will be held at The College of New Jersey from June 9-11.

But not before some members of Fairness in Taxes -- a local government watchdog group -- blasted the outgoing superintendent for expenses he billed to the district for seminar-type of trips he took as an educator, despite already interviewing for another district.

Playland’s Castaway Cove stopped construction about eight weeks ago on a project to rebuild the arcade building destroyed by a 2021 fire and also to create a third-floor control room for a new roller-coaster to sit atop. The matter had to go to the Ocean City Zoning Board for an interpretation. The board had to determine whether a height variance would be needed for the third floor or if it would be considered part of the ride and, hence, not have the height limitation. After two months of waiting, Playland's management got the answer they were looking for in a brief meeting Wednesday night in which the board voted unanimously that there was no height variance needed.
