New Study Focuses on Flooding Solutions at Shore

State and federal authorities, along with a nonprofit organization, partnered to develop a flooding study in 13 communities and the result was a "roadmap" of key areas that need to be addressed, along with a focus on what is working. The report was unveiled by the New Jersey Coastal Coalition. It detailed a study conducted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the state Department of Environmental Protection during a news conference in Avalon on Tuesday.

But on Thursday night, the Board of Education took the first step with the hiring of an interim superintendent to temporarily lead the district, which has about 3,000 students combined in the primary, intermediate and high schools.

Ocean City Mourns Death of “Official Santa”

Joseph T. “JT” Williams Jr. was an entrepreneur, a salesman and a realtor who was loved by his family and friends in his hometown of Ocean City. Although Williams did many things, he will perhaps be most remembered for the role he played in bringing delight to countless children over a span of 23 years – as the city’s "official Santa." He passed away June 16, surrounded by family. He was 73.

Time Runs Out for Old Scoreboard at Ocean City’s Carey Stadium

Carey Stadium, the hub of Ocean City High School sports and some college sports events, needs a new scoreboard fast. The old scoreboard has been repaired and repaired again, officials say. It is antiquated, and between difficulty finding parts and malfunctions, city and school officials have agreed for a while that a new scoreboard is desperately needed. A temporary solution has been found.
